Titles, Titles, Birthdays, Class of 2k8

  • Mar. 6th, 2007 at 9:44 AM

So, right now, at this very moment the Flux people are having a meeting about Preggers, the sequel to Tips on Having a Gay (ex) Boyfriend.
They are talking about titles. Yes, the axed Preggers. I knew they would. It's okay. I am really bad at titles.
They are also talking about cover images.

I'm voting for this:

But no one else is going for it. They keep talking about restraining order. Pshaw.

I again thought that I HEART STEPHEN COLBERT might be a good title.

Nope. Fiddlesticks.

Other exciting news includes...

1. Mr. Super Editor Man
has a great interview posted with Jennifer Laughran, a buyer for Books, Inc in San Francisco and the super blogger of the fabulous Not Your Mother's Book Club.

2. Today's </a></b></a>[info]docstymie's birthday!

3. Today also might be the birthday of :
[info]writerross but I'm not positive.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GUYS!
And if it's not your birthday, Writerross, I'm just going to enjoy my delusion.

4. Jingle Dancer by Cynthia Leitich Smith, illustrated by Cornelius Van Wright and Ying-Hwa Hu (Morrow/HarperCollins, 2000) has been named among best Multicultural Books for Early Childhood Educators in the most current issue of Montessori Life,

Very cool. Go Cynthia!

5. Today is the official birth day of  True Talents by  </a></b></a>[info]davidlubar
6. Today is also the official birth of Reaching For Sun  by </a></b></a>[info]traciezimmer

7. AND FINALLY...
This is from </a></b></a>[info]jodyfeldman.  And it's about how you could be in the class of 2k8. I'm the secretary for the Class of 2k7, a group of debut YA and MG novelists,  and it pretty much rocks.

As castoffs from the Class of 2k7 (our books will land in 2008), Marissa Doyle and I will soon announce the start of the 2k8 version with the blessing and support of the Mother Ship. Right now we’re putting our houses in order, getting our ducks in a row, taking care of our knitting and subscribing to Cliche Anonymous so we can get on with the task of making sure we’ll have a well-oiled machine before we cut the ribbon on the store.

On April 15, we will officially open for business and be ready to take applications from those who:
*Will have a first MG or YA novel debuting in 2008 ...
*From an established publishing house listed in CWIM ...
*And are willing to contribute a fair share toward a group effort ...
*Plus ... maybe we'll add another qualifier here once those houses, ducks and knitting are taken care of.

Please feel free to reprint this in your own blog. We want the best and the brightest 2008 debut authors, so spread the word.

Bah, I kind of like Preggers. Oh well. Too bad the Stephen Colbert one can't be used. You'd have probably gotten on his show for that one. :)

Preggers gave a bit too much of the plot away too soon. But I like it, too.

I hope you're doing okay with the manuscript thing.

Hmm, how about "Tips on being preggers with (by?) Stephen Colbert"?

I HEART STEPHEN COLBERT, too! I'm over the whole diaper/Little League/prom thing, but who doesn't fantasize about having *his* eaglet!

How can you not heart him, I mean, really?

Oh, I want to have his eaglet, too.

You know I love Stephen, but the banana photo wouldn't be my first pick. Good luck on your new title and all the rest of your cool stuff, including the Class of 2K8!

Oh, I know there were others, but all my favorites were huge and I was too rushed to scale anything down.

How on earth do you stay on top of everything???

Somedays, I'm lucky if I can remember my kids names.

And Bah-humbug on axing the title Preggers. I liked it.

If you need suggestions for titles, feel free to ask - just toss an email my way and I'll respond with an entire list. I'm not kidding. I am known for naming things for others - books, characters, pets, inanimate objects.

Colbert rules.

Oh! Man. I wish I had known this already.
It's already been retitled.

I'm taking you up on this for the third Flux book, though. If that's okay?

I like PREGGERS too.
But then I haven't read the book, so perhaps my opinion is hmmm...well..you know.
You and Steven Colbert make me laugh the most.

Yay! That's at least one good thing I can say I've done. Thank God. I'm feeling sort of ungood thingy lately.
